In 1948, the General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as a standard for its human rights operations. The UN currently provides technical assistance in elections, helps to improve judicial structures and draft constitutions trains human rights officials, and provides food, drinking water, shelter, and other humanitarian services to peoples displaced by famine, war, and natural disaster. Finally, the UN plays an integral part in social and economic development through its UN Development Program. This is the largest source of technical grant assistance in the world. Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer came into the world at 4.34pm on the 21st of May at the Evangelical Deaconess Hospital in Milwaukee 1960. Little did his parents know at the time of his birth that there son would become one of America's most famous serial killers not only for the amount of victims which he had killed but also for dismembering them and his necrophilic tendencies. Jeffrey's childhood started like any other he had two parents who loved and adored there son dearly giving him what ever his heart desired. Joyce Dahmer started a scrap book on her son recording events that happened in his life, his first step, his first accident, his first tooth, his first haircut and even his first scolding. While Jeffrey was still very young his father worked long hours in his laboratory and his mother worked as a teletype machine instructor. But the carrying of Jeffrey had been hard on Joyce Dahmer and every little thing seemed to annoy her. So Lionel being the the husband that he was and wanting the best for his wife they moved to his mothers house in West Allis, but the crack's in the marriage started to show early. There were constant fights between Joyce and Lionel Dahmer and Jeffrey took each of these fights to heart. Little did they realise that there constant fighting would be the one of the reasons for Jeffrey's downfall. I decided I wasn't ever going to get married because I never wanted to go through anything like that A short time before Jeffrey's fourth birthday, Jeffrey was diagnosed with a double hernia that needed to be operated on. This operation left Jeffrey feeling open and exposed nobody explained to Dahmer what was going on. He felt scared by the operation, complete strangers coming up to him and exploring his body. This experience is said to have marked his subconscious forever. But like every little boy of Jeffrey's age he was just like anybody else climbing apple trees, riding his bike and p laying in coal dust and coming home dirty. Though he was painfully shy while growing up he over came this in time. By the time Jeffrey turned six his mother gave birth to a second son who she called David. Though this did not have a dramatic effect on Dahmer's life he stayed pretty much neutral to his brothers existence and they never became close. By the time of his second son's birth Lionel Dahmer and his family moved into there own house at 4480 West Bath Road, surrounded by open forest where Jeffrey could lose himself in a world of make believe. As Jeffrey grew towards puberty, his sinking isolation and shyness was confirmed once again. An early sexual experiment with a another boy proved to be disappointing and joyless. Jeffery should have come to a time in his life where he wanted to experience the joys of life and the companionship of friends, but Jeffrey withdrew into himself and kept his life somewhat of a secret. Jeffrey's Dahmer's life conditioned him for the hard struggl e that lay ahead, little did he know that in just over 16 years he would become one of America's most famous serial killers having murdered 17 people, dismembering them and sleeping with there corpses and keeping parts of his victims for trophy's. Various sociologists, educationists and psychologists have defined communication in different ways and according to the disciplines to which they belong. Schramm says, it occurs between two corresponding systems accompanied through one or more non-corresponding systems, resulting in an identical status to establish commonness. Others like Howland, Warren Weaver, Gist, Loomis and Beegles etc. have defined communication in their respective ways, but one can conclude that it is a social interaction, that transfers the thoughts or ideas from one person or group to another so that it could be understood and acted upon. Information about the chosen charityCancer is one of the most terrible illnesses that a person could suffer and breast cancer is one of those that does not discriminate; it might affect women or men. Thousands of people and their families fight against breast cancer in the world. The statistics about breast cancer state that in 14,610 women will be diagnosed with cancer in 2012, making breast cancer one of the most common cancers affecting women, although it’s important to mention that 103 men were affected by breast cancer in 2007 in Australia.Fortunately most women survive breast cancer. Breast Cancer Care WA provides emotional, practical and financial support and care to people that have been affected by breast cancer in Western Australia. This foundation does not receive any government funding so they depend on the generosity of Western Australians to keep providing help at no cost. Description of the type of fundraiser and the reason for the choice For the Breast Cancer Care WA fundraiser we decided to sell Cadbury chocolates in Central Institute of Technology, Perth Campus.Eat Central Virtual Enterprise has an agreement with Cadbury for purchasing Cadbury fundraising products which have been made to help fundraising events and make the most of your sales. Procedure followed to prepare for the fundraiser The first week every team member competed a ‘To Do’ List, a team meeting was organised by the team leader, every team member suggested a charity of their choice. We attended to another meeting to decide which charity would be choose we agreed to do the fundraiser activity for the Breast Cancer Care WA.It was agreed that Cadbury chocolates would be sold for the fundraising at Central Institute of Technology at the Students Services area. For the activity we decided to dress in purple (the charity’s official colour) and decorate the stand with purple balloons. An email was sent to the Breast Cancer Care WA to let them know that we would like to fun draise for them. They happily accepted our idea and we were offered brochures, balloons and support to set up our stand.Each member designed a poster using the official logo of the foundation and a brief description of the charity, as well as the price list for Cadbury chocolates, only one was sent to the Breast Cancer Care WA for their approval. The amount of money set out to raise during the fundraising was AU$200 after deducting Cadbury money (AU$60) and float money (AU$40). A memo was sent to the manager with all the details of the fundraising for his approval. In the second week, the fundraising event was held (Monday 20 August 2012) from 10:30am to 3:00pm at the Students Services area.At the end of the activity the ‘Sales Summary’ and the ‘Cash Receipt Summary’ were completed by each team member. AU$ 0. 60 per chocolate sold was put in an envelope for payment to Cadbury. The amount of profit made was calculated and the money was placed into a separate envelope. After counting the money and deducting Cadbury costs and float money, we made AU$123. 65 for the Breast Cancer Care WA. The team leader was responsible for checking that the money was accurate before giving it to the Manager.In the third week, the fundraising report was discussed with the Manager and a guideline to write the report was given to every team member. A couple of team meetings were held to talk about the success of the fundraising activity. Advertising To promote the Breast Cancer Care WA fundraising activity we put posters on the Students Board, bookshop and Students Services area at Central Institute of Technology, Perth Campus. I had the chance to interact with customers, sell our products and persuade people to buy chocolates. I learned that communicating a clear message is very important, being nice when dealing with different people, different personalities and providing the best service and meeting customers’ needs. Recommendations for another fundraiserSince the fundraising activities can be carried out at The Central Institute of Technology premises and held for only one day, I would recommend arriving to the institute a little bit earlier so as to start the activity as early as it can and make the most of the day. Sugge stions for improvement I would suggest the team members to be more actively involved in the activity, be really committed to the cause and take every Eat Central Virtual Enterprise activity seriously.
